Ice Storm 2007
Austin is getting hit with an "Ice Storm". Yesterday and today the city has "shut down", telling everyone to stay inside and don't go out on the road. My office closed yesterday and today. It's been nice staying warm and lounging around the apartment. Hilary didn't have school either so we have been bumming around. It's been great! People here don't really know what to do with Ice. I felt like a kid again watching the news to see if they were going to cancel school! We kept saying that if this was happening in Iowa, we would definitely still be having school. Iowa doesn't shut down anything! I looked outside just now and it was a combination of ice and snow falling. Very unusual for here. It's making the news! It's been nice to catch up on some emailing and other things. Hope everyone is staying warm wherever they are at!

it's funny that Texas freaks out about winter like that!!!
Sounds like a good day to make that stuffed Possum recipe! Mmmmm Yum! Goes well with soup!
(you need to put that recipe on the blog I think!)

Lucky!! Where's my ice storm!?
Missouri is one of the worst! We've had a lot of fatalaties due to ice and hundreds of thousands are without power...:( I feel sorry for all the families in St. Louis right now. As for Joe and I...as far as the roads...well, the weekend was AWFUL! and very dangerous...we get more ice here than actually we do in Iowa, K.C. is sort of known for their ice storms! That aspect is definitely WORSE than Iowa. But as far as temperatures, it's so funny to hear people here complain about 0 degree temps....for us, it's really no big deal! :) Love you, emmy!
Ice to Texans sounds like rain to the Egyptians. If there is any water at all on the streets, folks slam on the brakes to roll across it, almost as if going faster than 5 mph will make you slide out of control. I just sit on the bus and laugh every time.
