Google Desktop Says...

0 days until IOWA!!!!
That means that today is the day!
I leave work around 4:00pm to head to the airport!
I'm so excited!!!!

It was a late night packing, but I managed to get my suitcase under the 50lb limit!!
I'm wondering if bringing 6 pairs of shoes a little much?
Hilary has been in North Dakota and Iowa for the last two weeks and she gets back into TX tonight.
It's funny, we didn't even plan it...
Her flight gets in at 5:00pm on Northwest Airlines...My flight takes off at 5:46pm on Northwest!
So...I'm driving my truck to the airport...parking it and then Hilary will drive it home! Works out nicely!
I miss her. We are hoping to see each other as we pass by...and we are going to give each other a high five.

The Lobb crew will be picking me up from the airport tonight when I get in at 11:15pm. I know Sharon and Jenn will be there...not sure if Marky Mark will make it that late!!! haha!!! Love ya Mark! Maybe Amy will be there too?!?!
Jenni heads back to school tomorrow morning and I wanted to see her, so they are picking me up and then I will crash at their place and probably be up WAY too late.

BUT I'm excited to laugh.

Seriously.
They will be dropping me off in the morning to the Browns and I get to meet little Max. I'm SOOOO excited...everyone keeps telling me that I will fall in love with him!! I think that's already happened!

We are celebrating Jack's b-day tomorrow night! 11 years old baby! woo hoo!!!
He just got a drum kit...jam session about to happen. seriously!

I'm so excited to see my family and my friends! I'm looking forward to a break from life here (although, it's good) It will be nice to get away.

I get to sing at church while I'm back, which is always cool.

Well, I should get some work done.

(ps. I packed some extra undies in case there would be some peeing of the pants from laughing so hard!!!)

Maxwell Thomas Brown!

He's here!!!! My newest nephew!
This wasn't really the plan...but that's okay!!! I guess crossing your legs and sucking it in until I got there didn't really work!
These next 10 days are going to go SO SLOW!!!
He was born Sunday August 19 at 4:52pm. He weighed 7lb 12 1/2 oz and was 20 inches long.
ooooo I LOVE HIM!!
He was also three weeks early, so I can't imagine how big this guy would have been if he waited to come out!
His name is Maxwell Thomas Brown! ooooooo I LOVE HIM!!!
It's been hard to be away, I just want to hug him and give him kisses. I told them as soon as they called with the news that someone needed to make an emergency run home to download pictures onto the computer and send them to me.
Joe (my clever bro-in-law) sent me a text message saying...check your email for a picture of Max. So I seriously made a mad dash to my computer to check my email to see this...
Email entitled..."Your Newest Nephew".
With this picture....Nice, Joe.
I was so mad.
He was like...."Isn't he cute?!?!"
What a dork!!!
So the first pictures that I got of Max were of him all goopy! So I couldn't really tell what he looked like, but I thought he was still very cute!So then the long wait for normal looking pictures...(ok, maybe it wasn't that long, but it felt long to me...I sent some pretty nasty emails saying....HELLO!!!!! WHERE IS EVERYONE!!! I NEED PICTURES!!!!!! WHY DON'T I HAVE PICTURES?!?!?)
My sister finally posted on her blog (in her hospital bed...now that's a loyal blogger!) pictures of sweet Max, here are my favorites.
He's got very nice lips. :) oooo LOVE HIM!!
Big Brothers!!! Will and Sam!!
I guess Will couldn't stop touching him because he is so soft! Jill wanted Sam to jump in bed with her and he said, "I can't do that, I don't have a baby in my tummy!" It was pretty cute! He thought the nurses would think that he had a baby in his tummy if he was laying in her bed!!!
Sweet Damon and Max! He's a great daddy! I love this picture!
Jill just posted a cute video of him on her blog you can watch here.
I love him!
I finally broke down tonight. Three different times...while talking to my mom and both of my sisters. God was hitting me with how blessed I am to have these kids in my life. They are all so precious. Max makes 6 kids in the family now. They are all growing so much and with the littleness and newness of him, I'm reminded of how sweet and precious these little lives are. I'm so thankful for my sisters and bros-in-law. They love Jesus and are raising their kids to love and live for Him. It is so beautiful!
I can't wait to be blessed with this someday...ok...I might start crying again...I'll stop now!!
Check out my other sister's blog here to see some more pics and a cute story!

Our Friday Night Music Video

Here is a look into our Friday night! We were in a goofy mood. So you may not think this is funny, but we obviously thought everything was funny! Hilary likes to sing along with me when I sing, but sometimes she doesn't really know the words, or sings her own words, so listen for that in the background. AND it's really late, so we were a little out of it. (btw...we really do have a life, aside from staying home on a Friday night making music videos!)

My Flat Tire Experience...

This last week started with a flat tire. It would be my 2nd flat tire in the last three months.
Both times screws in the tire.
What are the chances of that?!!?
I took pictures the first time, since it was my very first flat tire. I don't have any pictures from this last incident. It wasn't as exciting as the first time.
Back in May, I had gone over to the Stephen's house to stay the kids while George and Denise went to a marriage conference.
In the morning I went down to my truck and noticed the flat tire.I didn't really know what to do, so I decided to wait until George and Denise came home and then figure out what to do. Hilary came by and then Denise came home. George had errands to run, so us girls decided that we were going to figure it out on our own...we don't need guys!
(Although I did make a couple of phone calls to Mark Lobb (the previous owner of the truck) to figure out how to get the jack out of the truck and to ask where the spare tire was...seriously.)
So Denise, Hilary and I (and Holland) headed down to the truck and went to work. Denise in her skirt...me and me no knowledge about flat tires...Hilary with the camera and Holland with the cell phone!Denise went underneath the truck to check out the spare tire situation, and me not thinking AT ALL, got in the back of the truck to get something...I don't even remember what...completely forgetting that Denise was under the truck! So the weight of me in the truck sort of came down on her...but she didn't get hurt, it was just a little scary....oops.
So then we had to try and figure out how to get the spare tire down from underneath the truck. It was a little difficult. So when I came out from under the truck WITH the spare tire...Hilary started laughing really hard...and I was like...WHY are you laughing?!!? She was like...let me just take a picture! This was why...It was pretty funny...I was covered in dirt!!! Then my nose started to itch...Hilary, being the great friend and roomie that she is...itched it for me!So then we started working on getting the flat tire off and the spare on...Denise is a rockstar!
After several cars drove by, not stopping, one guy finally pulled over and asked us if we wanted help and we said "SURE"!!!! I was happy about it...He was pretending like he didn't know what he was doing and was using the jack to screw on the little thingies...that's what they are called right?!?! The little thingies! The spare was put on successfully! That night Hilary and I decided that we needed to celebrate my first flat tire so we went to a restaurant that night called Vivos! It was delicious! They had ice and flower petals in the sinks in the bathroom and then at the end of the evening they gave all of the ladies long stem roses! random, but nice!

Hosanna

This last Sunday at church Chris sang a song from the new Hillsong United Album called Hosanna.
It is amazing.
Again, it was one of those deals where I felt nauseous after worship. Nauseous in a good way (see previous post!) It was so intense! It was awesome!!! I was seriously sore the next day from rockin' out so hard! Seriously...my neck was sore! I can't help but raise my hands high in the air and shout out!!! AHHHHHH!!! I love worship!
Here are the lyrics and then a video of Hillsong United doing this song. Enjoy...sing along...raise your hands...dance...shout!!! DO IT!!! For His glory y'all!

Hosanna

I see the King of glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes
The whoe earth shakes

I see His love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing
The people sing

Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

I see a generation
Rising up to take their place
With selfless faith
With selfless faith

I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We're on our knees
We're on our knees

Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love
Like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am
For Your kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

20 days

My google desktop this morning said 20 days until Iowa!!! 20 days!?!?! Can't it be 1 day yet?!!?
I woke up thinking about it this morning. Thinking about how I will be waking up in a bunkbed with two handsome boys! How I will get to see a precious, lovely little face...hopefully covered with donut frosting! How I will get big hugs and a "Hi Emmy" from two other handsome boys. How I will get picked on by my bros, how I will get to see the beauty of my sisters, how I get to hug my mom for 10 days and not let go! AND how I will hopefully get to hold a new little bundle so sweet and so little with more beauty to reflect God's amazing creation!
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Beautiful Faith of Fearless Submission

I was reading a sermon by John Piper entitled "The Beautiful Faith of Fearless Submission", and loved these words he spoke...

"A Christian woman does not put her hope in her husband, or in getting a husband. She does not put her hope in her looks. She puts her hope in the promises of God...She looks away from the troubles and miseries and obstacles of life that seem to make the future bleak, and she focuses her attention on the sovereign power and love of God who rules in heaven and does on earth whatever he pleases. She knows her Bible, and she knows her theology of the sovereignty of God, and she knows his promise that he will be with her and help her strengthen her no matter what. This is the deep, unshakable root of Christian womanhood.
She does not fear the future; she laughs at the future. The presence of hope in the invincible sovereignty of God drives out fear. Or to say it more carefully and realistically, the daughters of Sarah fight the anxiety that rises in their hearts. They wage war on fear, and they defeat it with hope in the promises of God.
Mature Christian women know that following Christ will mean suffering. But they believe the promises like 1 Peter 3:14, "But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled," and 1 Peter 4:19, "Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good."
That is what Christian women do: They entrust their souls to a faithful Creator. They hope in God. And they triumph over fear."

OH!! That I would be that woman!

If you want to make yourself into a "Simpson"...go here.

Psalm 34:5

"Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame."

"Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces."

Doing Things Right in Matters of the Heart

I was checking out the Girl Talk Blog and they are reading through the book "Doing Things Right in Matters of the Heart." One of their entries talked about this quote from the book...

"Sisters, all the advice from Vogue, Glamour, and Cosmopolitan that talks about going after and getting your man, all the blather about how in this day and age it is just as acceptable for you to initiate as for him, is just that-blather. Be confident and trust your feelings on this matter. Be confident that if he is the man you hope and wish him to be, he will play the man. You crackle the leaves a bit when he is in the area and let him know you are there. Then wait for him to initiate, or not. In the long run, you will be well served either way." Doing Things Right in Matters of the Heart, page 94

Something the blog writer said was this..."Mom used to remind my sisters and me of this story when we were tempted to try to get some guy's attention. 'Allow a man to win your heart...and if he doesn't want to, then why would you want him?' God created men to initiate and he created women to respond. Or, as John Ensor (author of the book) also puts it, "His power is in the exclamation [of love]. Yours is in the echo." When we remember this, things will work right in matters of the heart."

If you want to read the whole post go here.

One Year in Austin

This past year has been amazing. One year ago, August 4th, Hilary and I made the move to Austin! We left our homes, our families, our friends, our state and headed south!!!
I can't believe that it has already been a year. The time went by so fast.
I can't even begin to recount the amazing blessings that God has poured out on me over the course of this last year. But I wanted to try and pinpoint a few...
Literally 4 days before we planned to move we still didn't have jobs...we still didn't have a place to live. We were leaving on a Friday and on Monday we get a message from Denise Stephens, who we had met on a visit to Austin previously, through a friend of a friend of a friend. She had discussed with her family the night before and all agreed to let us stay with them until we found jobs and a place to live.
The Lord provided in ABUNDANCE!!! Not only did they take us in to their family, but Denise has been a great friend, a spiritual mentor and an example to me of a Godly woman, wife, mother and friend.
I am so thankful for them. We stayed with them for 2 months until we found an amazing apartment, central/downtown Austin.
Another amazing God thing. We have such a great location, we are so close to everything. Less than 1o minutes for both Hilary and I to get to work. We can walk down to 6th street and go to Whole Foods, or ZTejas or Waterloo Records. It's so great!!!
At the end of September our lease will be done and they are in the process of turning our apartments into condos. ($285,000 condos...uh...no thanks!) So we are out. :(
We are trusting that God knows what we need and where we are supposed to be in this next year we are in Austin.

I'm SO thankful for my roommate. Hilary and I are SO different!! I love it!! It has been amazing, and humbling. We have walked through a lot together this past year and we have learned and grown so much. God is revealing so much in both of us, both strengths and weaknesses. Areas of sin and areas of our lives that God is refining. It has been so good to walk through life with her and to pray together and encourage each other, love each other, cry with each other and most of all LAUGH together!!! She has been such a blessing!

Another amazing blessing is my church. Austin Stone. I can't even begin to describe how Spirit filled this church is. I have learned SO much and have grown SO much. The leadership and the people have a love for the glory of God that inspires me and is so real. I have felt such a sense of freedom in worship and has put in me an anticipation for what heaven will be like!! I seriously sometimes feel like I'm going to throw up after worship!! Like...throwing up in a good way...if that's possible!!! And I feel like my legs are going to give out on me. It's awesome!!! (really...it is!) After the message I am usually challenged in such a way that I desire to live out my life and fully live out my relationship with Jesus, instead of just showing up on Sundays for church. I have such a desire to grow more in my knowledge and love for God's word and for His glory to be known to all nations.
Another blessing has been my community group. I have met some INCREDIBLE people. I have been SO blessed by this group. Marcus and Jocelin were our leaders and they did an incredible job of facilitating our group. Everyone gives Marcus a hard time because of his organizational skills. He is very precise on his timing and at our last meeting this last week he made a slide show presentation of the stats from the last year. ie: attendance, ratio of men and women, marrieds and singles, timeline of how many meetings we had etc. It was GREAT!! If you want to check it out you can go to their website here. It was hilarious! We also had several different couples lead the discussion each week. Our group was so good about meeting the needs of people, anytime someone needed help with anything...moving...meals...whatever...people were there. God has been glorified in this group, the lives of these people have been touched and moved powerfully by Jesus and it overflows to other people. Here are the group pictures that we took that night too.
The serious one...
The Funny one...
It all started when my friend Melody invited me to come and check out her community group. She claimed that it was pretty much the best and coolest community group EVER. I would have to agree with her!!
Melody and I have had several adventures together as we usually ride together to community group.
It basically consists of me picking up Melody and us trying to remember which house we are meeting at and then trying to figure out our way there. (you would think that a year of going to group at only three different houses...we would have the directions figured out.) Then some sort of adventure happens. There have been several times where we have gotten lost...once was when I was supposed to be leading worship....instead of showing up at 6:45... we didn't make it until about 7:15. oops. I think I also had a gas problem that night...gas as in gas for my truck! I was running out in the midst of getting lost.
Melody is good at directions...most of the time...I am not...so I think we are a good pair. But we still get lost. :)
One other time we got lost we happened to find a "famous person's" house. "Famous Person" meaning that we noticed a "tour bus" parked in the back of their house and so we figured it had to be a famous person...right?! We then were determined to figure it out. After group that night we came back to the house...in the dark...and decided to get out and walk around to see if we could get a better look at "the tour bus". So Melody and I start walking down the street trying not to look suspicious as a guy was walking towards us. We decided that we looked harmless...because Melody was wearing a skirt. But then we realized that we both had "mohawks" (sidenote...Melody's hair is growing back and it's short and REALLY cute! She dried it the other day and it dried in a mohawk and decided that she wanted to be like me when she grew up!) We decided that because of our "mohawks" we maybe looked a little suspicious!
After doing some research on Melody's part...turns out the people that live there aren't really famous people and we concluded that the "tour bus" was probably because he showed dogs, or was a chess champion...I thought that maybe it was just a rich guy that wished he was famous and so bought a "tour bus" and would randomly go on "world tours" in his "tour bus". We also concluded that if he heard me sing he would take me on his "world tour" in his "tour bus" and then I would make him bring Melody since she is good at directions...sort of!
Oh the adventures...
One more quick adventure that we had last week...
Melody is in the process of moving and so that night we loaded some boxes in my truck and were going to drop them off at the house of a family she will be living with. After group we head to the house and pull up in the driveway. We noticed several cars in the driveway and thought YES!! We have helpers! We start unloading the truck and Melody heads up to the house with her hands full ready to unload...but she returns quickly to the truck and says..."this is not the right house...this isn't the house...this is the neighbors house! We need to go next door!!!!!"
I automatically bust out laughing...we quickly try to shove everything back in the truck...but I'm having a hard time controlling myself and was trying to make sure I didn't pee my pants...then a couple of guys came out and said..."Can I help you?"
We were like..."uh...yeah...sorry! we have the wrong house!"
So we pulled out of the driveway and then pulled into the next driveway right next door to the correct house!!
It was SO funny! We couldn't stop laughing!!!
I actually couldn't stop laughing about it the rest of the week...
I'm STILL laughing about it!!!
Oh good times!! Melody...feel free to add anything about any of our adventures together!!! Love ya girl!
We have also had some serious moments this year too. With Melody's breast cancer we walked through her chemo and surgery with her and we got to see how God provides and loves and lifts up in the middle of sickness and suffering. Her heart and her life glorify Jesus! It's beautiful!
Just recently Jocelin was also diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It's amazing that God has allowed this to happen. It has been cool to see how He is using this for His glory. Because of Jocelin and Marcus' testimony of God's goodness in the midst of this, one of their good friends gave his life to Jesus!!! It is amazing! If you want to hear more of their amazing story...check out their website.
I'm going to be focusing on the college ministry in the fall and will be leading a freshman girls group. I will probably not be able to attend many of the meetings this year. But I am so thankful that I got to experience this group this last year. SO thankful!
Here is a video of pictures that Jocelin put together that they showed at the end of group.

Another thing that I love about Austin is the music. I have seen some amazing musicians. Austin is the "Live Music Capital of the World."
Some of my favorite local musicians that you should check out are:
Amanda Leggett
Miranda Dodson
Sarah Monteen
Megan Melara
Threads
David Ramirez
Megan McCallon
Joy Boven
Patty Griffin
It has really given me a push to write more and get better. I have started taking some voice and guitar lessons and it has been really good. I don't know what God wants to do with me and music, but I know that it is in me and part of me and I continue to pray that He will do what HE wants with me. I'm surrendered.
Okay...this post is extremely long!! So I'm ending it now!
LOVE to all you who read my blog! Whoever and wherever you are!
