I'm so proud of my Hawkeyes! If you didn't know already, they won the Orange Bowl on Tuesday night. YEAH! It was a great game!
Who am I kidding? I didn't watch the game...and because of that I am shunned from my family.
I mentioned something on facebook and got responses from my family that said things like:
"I feel like I don't even know you anymore"
"I thought I raised you better than that"
"You are shunned".
Can you feel the love?!?!
I'm ok with it. I know nothing about sports. I do enjoy watching them, but I am not overly excited about it...like some people I know.
A text conversation from my bro-in-law Joe:
Joe: Shun on.
Me: Oh Whatever!
Joe: Shun off. I mean it. Shun on.
Me: DORK! You can't shun me...it's impossible.
Joe: **silence**
Me: (this morning) Good morning sunshine! You can't stay mad at me forever!
Joe: **silence**
We'll see how long this lasts.
So here is a video that my sister put on her blog of my 2 year old nephew and my other bro-in-law, Damon. SO funny!! This just shows you a small glimpse into the intensity that is my family and sports. Apparently it starts young.
I would like to make a note that Jill DID NOT watch the game, but instead watched the Bachelor on her laptop with her earbuds in...hmmm...I don't see her getting shunned from the family thank you very much. I'm not bitter. Really.
I would also like to say that I really am proud to be an Iowan and a Hawkeye. I even have a hawkeye sticker on my car. Gotta represent down here!

I think it's ok if you don't watch the hawks as long as it's because you have more important things to do, like watch the bachelor. did i tell you that i tried to sit next to damon on the couch and he declared his couch a "hawkeye zone" because he needed the extra space in case he had to stand up in a hurry? also, i looked up from my computer when the game was over and said, "is it over? who won?"... not the right thing to say, because evidently he'd been up dancing around and celebrating and i didn't even notice.
First of all, Max's posture with his arms folded is the cutest ever!!!
Now on to more important things, Bachelor fans. . . I am a little disappointed in the quality of bachelorettes this year. I only like 2 of them - the divorced one he gave the 1st rose to, and the hot nanny from Nebraska. Thoughts, anyone?
i like the nanny too. But, can't remember the other one you're talking about. And the psycho girl that was crying on the first night needs to GO. why did he keep her?! makes me wonder if he is contractually obligated to keep certain girls just to make "good" television and add drama. snort.
don't you love how your hawkeye post turned into a bachelor discussion? what are YOUR thoughts on this season, Em?
OK. fine. I'll admit it. I'll probably watch it. I haven't watched this weeks episodes yet. So I have no opinions yet. Other than, I was a little disappointed that they chose him to be the bachelor. And yes...I'll admit that I totally got hooked on the bachelorette, last season. there. I said it.
I'm so disgusted with all of you. Shame on you "so called" Iowans. And to watch prime-time porn instead of the game!!! You all are sick. SICK!
Oh...and did Joe actually write *silence* or did he just not respond because the first option is much funnier and more Joe-like. Just wanted a clarification.
Thanks Laura.
There just wasn't a response. Although it would have been hilarious if he responded that way.
Oh, and sorry about the porn comment. Maybe that was a little harsh. Let me rephrase that into "a show where practically complete strangers make out with one another to vainly achieve someone's true value enough to make a mockery of marraige by proposing to a complete stranger. Basically."
wow.
Em, how could you be disappointed with Jake as the bachelor? Intelligent, goody-two-shoes guys are totally HOT!! And totally my type if you haven't guessed. On a side (but still bachelor-related) note, Carissa (Black) Engle was convinced that Kiptyn from last season was Kedron's brother.
Elizabeth at 19 months was shouting "go cockeyes," except Phillip made me change it to "gawkeyes" for the family Christmas letter... my dad is so proud of her though! She loves to yell touchdown when she puts up her arms. We only watched on TV all season though!
I so agree that you have to represent down here in Texas! We have an ISU logo on the back of our car. My favorite is when Brian wears his Hawkeye hat and Cyclone shirt. He always tells me "No one knows the difference down here"
I am getting disgusted with all 3 of you. Just stop and listen to momma a minute . . . .shhhhh. . . .ok, I am beginning to think that Rachel is the only one of the bunch with any good sense. I'm with her on every point. If I have to stop this blogging and bop you 3 girls, I will!!!
Emily's mom rocks
what did I do?!
