TX +90degrees+Long Hair=miserable

It's 90 degrees. My hair is driving me nuts. I don't know if I can handle it all the way through the summer. The last time I had long hair was in high school...in Iowa. This summer might just be hell. My hair isn't even that long yet. It's already driving me nuts.
We are supposed to get a cold front in tonight. It's supposed to get down to 49 degrees. How can that be...90 to 49 degrees?!
My head might explode.
Sorry...this wasn't a very positive post.
:)

The Scientist

Natasha Bedingfield's cover of Coldplay's The Scientist. um...amazing.

Hallelujahs by Anticipation

I read this little Spurgeon devo this last week and it has blessed me over and over again. What is cool is that God has brought to mind different people who are going through hard weeks that I have gotten to share this with. God is amazing!
Read it. Read it over and over again and let it sink in...

Nahum 1:12 "Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more."

There is a limit to affliction. God sends it, and God removes it. Do you sigh and say, "When will the end be?" Remember that our griefs will surely and finally end when this poor earthly life is over, let us quietly wait and patiently endure the will of the Lord till He cometh.

Meanwhile, our Father in heaven takes away the rod when His design in using it is fully served. When He has whipped away our folly, there will be no more strokes. Or, if the affliction is sent for testing us, that our graces may glorify God, it will end when the Lord has made us bear witness to His praise. We would not wish the affliction to depart till God has gotten out of us all the honor which we can possibly yield Him.

There may today be "a great calm". Who knows how soon those raging billows will give place to a sea of glass, and the sea birds sit on the gentle waves? After long tribulation the Rail is hung up, and the wheat rests in the garner. We may, before many hours are past, be just as happy as now we are sorrowful. It is not hard for the Lord to turn night into day. He that sends the clouds can as easily clear the skies. Let us be of good cheer. It is better on before. Let us sing hallelujahs by anticipation.

iPhone

I'm getting the iPhone itch. A major itch. Even more now that my phone is GHETTO and they keep telling me that nothing is wrong with it even though it's clearly messed up.
All around me are iPhones.
I have to giggle to myself when I walk into the green room at church after singing and in the little cup holders of the canvas chairs are iPhones just hanging out.
Both bands are a little crazy about the iPhone. I love it.
I sort of want to join the iPhone team.
Should I do it?

Psalm 34

I bless God every chance I get; my lungs expand with his praise.

I live and breathe God;
If things aren't going well, hear this and be happy:

Join me in spreading the news;
together let's get the word out.

God met me more than halfway,
he freed me from my anxious fears.

Look at him; give him your warmest smile.
Never hide your feelings from him.

When I was desperate, I called out,
and God got me out of a tight spot.

God's angels sets up a circle
of protection around us while we pray.

Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see-
how good God is.
Blessed are you who run to him.

Worship God if you want the best;
worship open doors to all his goodness.

Young lions on the prowl get hungry,
but God-seekers are full of God.

Come, children, listen closely;
I'll give you a lesson in God worship.

Who out there has a lust for life?
Can't wait each day to come upon beauty?

Guard your tongue from profanity,
and no more lying through your teeth.

Turn your back on sin; do something good.
Embrace peace-don't let it get away!

God keeps his eye on his friends,
his ears pick up every moan and groan.

God won't put up with rebels;
he'll cull them from the pack.

Is anyone crying for help? God is listening,
ready to rescue you.

If your heart is broken, you'll find God right there;
If you're kicked in the gut, he'll help you catch your breath.

Disciples so often get into trouble;
still, God is there every time.

He's your bodyguard, shielding every bone;
not even a finger gets broken.

The wicked commit slow suicide;
they waste their lives hating the good.

God pays for each slave's freedom;
no one who runs to him loses out.

Oh Sweet Singleness

Monday night I had the privilege to lead worship for around 100 amazing, beautiful single women. Austin Stone had a "Singleness" talk with speaker Jennifer Lewis from Dallas. We just finished a series at church on "Marriage, Sex, Singleness and Divorce."
Seriously.
Go listen to it NOW. I'm not kidding.
Go.
NOW. It's SO good. Life changing good. GOOOO!
Anyway...I believe that Jennifer's talk was recorded, so at some point you may be able to listen to it. I'll let you know.
I always get a little freaked out when I have to lead worship on my own. Although last night I had the honor of singing alongside some amazing musicians. I actually had my own little "band". I didn't have to worry about playing my guitar I could just sing! It was freeing.
I truly believe that God was glorified in that place Monday night and that the spirit was moving powerfully in the hearts of those women, as we sang about Jesus being enough for us. That He is all we want and desire, more than anything.
Our culture looks down on singleness, we get looked at as if something is wrong with us or people feel bad for us if we are in our late 20's or 30's and we are not married. We get the "I'm sorry..." or "I'll be praying for you..." or whatever.
Singleness is a blessing! It truly is! I have the desire to be married and to have a family...that's not bad. But God is allowing me to desire Him more and more and it is ENOUGH!
I could go today or tomorrow and what would I have added to my life if all I did was think about how badly I want to get married. Marriage is temporary. There is no marriage in heaven.
Oh, that my mind would be consumed with Jesus and His goodness that WILL last FOREVER.
"O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! O fear the Lord, you His saints; for to those who fear Him there is no want. The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing."-Psalm 34:8-10

Laid Bare

This is my latest song that I wrote. I wrote it for a sweet sweet friend of mine.

I imagine you there
With your smile and your empty eyes
You are letting them in
You have closed yourself off
Not aware you have lost your way
Lost among the faces
Laid bare

Love, my love I will pray for the light
To come back in your eyes again
Rain, may the rain cover over your life
Washing all your fear away
Trust in Him again

I imagine you there
With your hands lifted to the sky
You are letting Him in
Your surrender is sweet
Letting go of what holds you down
Wanting more of Him
Laid bare

Love, my love I will pray for the light
To come back in your eyes again
Rain, may the rain cover over your life
Washing all of your fear away
Trust in Him again

Laid bare...laid bare...laid bare

Flowers Round 2

What in the world!? I got another delivery of flowers today! This time...I got real hot and real nervous. I wasn't sure who these could be from!
I read the card and it turned out that it was the same exact message that my bro-in-law wrote on the other flowers that were delivered! Something got messed up...I hope that he didn't get charged twice...but I'm not complaining because my desk is full of flowers! I love it!
I think God knew I needed a little encouragement today!

Flowers for ME!

Look what got delivered to my work today...FOR ME!!!
They are sitting on my desk brightening up my day! They are from "Tex" otherwise known as my brother-in-law Joe. He has had this tradition to have flowers delivered to me at work for Valentine's Day! So sweet! I love it!

Cisco the Kid.

Meet Francisco:He's so sweet! My friend Meghan came with Cisco for a visit. Meghan is taking her nursing boards today please pray for her! So I took the day off to watch Cisco. I love him.
He got very sad all of a sudden:
And then I fed him and he was very content. He likes to eat. He's a chunk. He's about 2 months old.
Then he fell asleep:
And that has been our day so far.
It's fun playing mommy for a day. I even got to drive a mini-van.

Monday's Fabulous Moment

So I would have to say today's fabulous moment came when I got this picture from my sister, Laura.It made me laugh. Jill doesn't look too amused.
If you know me at all, you know that I have a weird sinus thing going on, where one nostril will be completely plugged up, but the other one completely clear. Sometimes it switches sides. But it's real annoying.
So I like to do this little thing, as you can see in the picture, where I demonstrate this by breathing out of my nose while holding one side closed, then I switch, demonstrating how one side is completely plugged and the other side completely open.
Again, real annoying.
I went to the ENT today, because it seems that the double dose of allergy medicine isn't really helping.
They are going to take a CT of my sinuses. I was afraid that they would stick a probe thing up my nose, but he didn't do that. YES! excellent. No probing.
This post may not be all that funny to some of you, but if you know me and you have had the privilege of hearing the nostril breathing, you will appreciate it.
